Inspiration behind Puddles

March 2025, I had my mudder boots on and was wading across the stream and got stuck in the mud and BAM, right on my butt in the water. I struggled to get up and got soaked and muddy and was laughing so hard, I felt like a little kid.

I wanted to remember that feeling. The water was icy cold and my dog was the only witness.

As I pulled this painting together, I took further joy in going for walks and snapping photo references of spring plants emerging near water areas. Taking notice of how light and colour reacted at this time of year.

This is the product of being as a child I once was. Totally emersed in the environment and experiencing every fleeting moment.

I love this piece.
